On May 28 (local time), a ceremony is held to celebrate the midterm transfer of the project of 920 boreholes aided by Chinese government and constructed by the CJIC in Chisamba region of Zambia’s Central Province.  Ambassador of China to Zambia Yang Youming and his wife, Minister of Water Treatment and Environmental Protection Lloyd M. Kaziya and Governor of the Central Province Sydney Mushanga also attended the transferring ceremony. Others present at the meeting are the standing secretary of Water Treatment and Environmental Protection Bishop Chomba, the standing secretary of the Central Province Chanda Kabwe, the Chinese Economic and Commercial Counselor in Zambia Ouyang Daobing, the related staff of the CJIC in Zambia, the overseas Chinese and the representatives of Chinese enterprises.

At the ceremony, Ambassador Yang spoke highly of the efficiency of the construction and the quality of the project. He hoped that the CJIC can keep on working hard and complete the project at the end of this year. He added that the project can effectively alleviate the shortage of drinking water for 300,000 people in 23 regions in the Central and Luapula province and improve the living condition of the local people. He noted that China and Zambia has long-standing friendship and China will continue to have a down-to-earth cooperation with Zambia in various sectors, especially, those related to the life of people. He believed that with the concerted effort, the relationship of the two countries will be exalted to a record high.

Minister of Water Treatment and Environmental Protection Kaziya expressed his gratitude to the CJIC for their effort having been made for and the contribution to settling the local problems of drinking water and improving the local life. Minister Kaziya said that the project not only settles the issues such as the distance for people to fetch the water and health problems caused by drinking water, but also provides more jobs. The life of local people is effectively improved. Minister Kaziaya thanked the Chinese government for the aid and highly evaluated the relationship between the two countries. He hoped that the Chinese government continually supports and helps Zambia in the sector of water resource
